A lifelong Central Virginian, J.J. Cox Jr. brings decades of local knowledge and nearly twenty years of real estate experience to The Cox Real Estate Group. Raised in Mechanicsville and deeply familiar with Richmond and its surrounding counties, J.J.’s understanding of the area comes not only from working here, but from watching its communities grow and change over a lifetime.

J.J. became a licensed REALTOR® in 2006 and has built extensive experience representing buyers and sellers across a wide range of residential real estate. He has particular expertise in raw land and building lots, including properties with access challenges, landlocked parcels, easements, and other issues that can make land transactions more complex than a traditional home sale. His experience helps clients identify potential obstacles early, understand the practical considerations of a property, and navigate transactions that often require additional research, coordination, and problem-solving.

Negotiation is another cornerstone of J.J.’s approach. Years of experience across changing markets have taught him when to push, when to be patient, and how to keep the larger objective in focus. Whether negotiating the purchase of a home, working through inspection issues, or finding a path forward in a complicated land transaction, he brings a steady, strategic approach while remaining focused on protecting his client’s interests.

In 2013, J.J. partnered with his daughter, Brittney, to form The Cox Real Estate Group. Together, they combine two generations of perspective with a shared commitment to straightforward advice, strong communication, and thoughtful representation.
